Crazyville!

Seriously, that up there is an understatement... It has been crazy hell around my house. A few weeks ago I could smell something like sewer. I didn't think much of it because my whole town smelt like it. It was horrible. Some people said it was just thawing out, sending a stinky stench around town. Well one night it was raining outside and smelt so good. But when I came in it stunk inside my house. So of course I go running around checking to see if a drain somewhere had over flown. That is when I seen it. I went in the basement bathroom and there was sludge in the tub, and the toilet looked as though it had had something backup as well.

So I called a plumber... Worst 130.00 I had ever spent. He basically came, got up on the roof where the plumbing vent is. got back down and said that there wasn't anything he could do. I tried to talk to the plumbers boss, to say,  hey he wasn't here for an hour, he couldn't get the hose to go past a pipe. I don't think its right that I had to pay for him to be there for an hour, when he clearly wasn't. Anyways so after he tells me that, he says oh and by the way you don't have a clean out. You will need one of those put in if you want to get whatever clog out.

So of course this is the first issue I have even had. Then it was time for some internet research. I looked all over trying to just see if I had one. I mean I had a little money saved up. But not even sure of how much everything would cost. I ended up having to have someone bring a backhoe and tear up a spot close to the property line. To see if it was something with the city or something with us. They put the clean outs in and broke the wallet. Then comes some more bad news. They tell me that we have this orange pipe, that is made of tar, and clay basically. and that I will need to get that replaced soon. Everything was adding up so quickly. There was just so many things that I couldn't count! In the end it ended up being tree roots.

It was pretty frustrating but it doesn't end there! Next I find out that the water heater is leaking, and that will need to be replaced as well... Seriously. could things get any worse? Could things go any further down hill? In the end with everything there I spend close to 1000 in less than 3 days. I went ahead and bought a new water heater anyways. Just because I don't need some flooded mess coming soon.

Anyways besides that LITTLE mess, and I say little because it could have been a house fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, or tsunami. But the house is still standing strong. And now atleast that is out of the way. It could have been a million times worse. And sometimes it makes life easier when you think about how much worse it could be. Other than that everything is going great! :]

UPDATE: It was definately not tree roots! It was the pipe, it had collapsed. Then we had two others come and it finally got fixed.

Fedex Smartpost is SOOO SLOW!!!

Ugh! Okay so on my birthday I got an amazon gift card. I am obsessed with gift cards :] Anyways, I ordered three items, a book, a kindle fire case, and a stamping block! That is it! They all qualified for free shipping. So I thought hey! This is great! I put my order in on Thursday the 31st. Watched it sit at one place until Saturday. Then it made it to Colorado, Now it has just been sitting there. I know, I know I should just be patient. But I am already bored with the fact of what I ordered. Its like take it back. Gift cards can be good and bad. But usually from Amazon they get here pretty quick. I ordered shoes a few weeks ago. Ordered them on a Friday and the mail man brought them to me on a Monday, Yep thats right United States Postal Service, has brought my stuff quicker!. I was so surprised that I got them that quick! I was excited. But now I am just frustrated lol. I guess I assumed that fedex was quick as well.

Toilet Paper Craft #5

So a few weeks ago I started saving our toilet paper rolls, Trust me it took a while since there is only two of us, and I really needed a lot. I think its been since at least November that I have been saving them to do a craft. I wasn't sure what I was going to do so I just kept my eye open and kept looking around.

Items you will need:
10-15 Toilet Paper Rolls/Paper towel rolls
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Long Frame
Spray Paint

You will want to cut all of your rolls. I found that it was easier to flatten them, then cut them. I got about 5 pieces out of each roll. Another thing, you will want to make sure there is no toilet paper sticking to rolls.

Next you want to curl some of your cuts. You can either do this with your finger, or with a pen depending on how tight you want them to curl. They will come in handy to make the leafs or waves. You can choose to have a lot more than what I chose to have or a lot less.

I went to the DI looking for a long frame and I found one!! What are the chances!? It didn't have glass, which also was good because I didn't need it in the first place. It had a little chip in the left corner, but that is an easy fix. Oh and I got it for .75. So this craft was almost free!! Unless you want to get technical and count down the toilet paper :] Lets just say if I counted it all you would be bored.

I then took about 5 of the cuts to make the flowers, you can choose less or more. You want to put glue on the outer sides and you want to level them out so the top will be uneven, but the bottom will be flat with the table. Do this one piece at a time until you have made a full flower.

Here comes the tricky part. When you are looking for a frame try to get one that has an over lap like so below. It really helps when you use the glue gun, and it helps support the whole piece. I placed these little three petals in two parts of my frame. With that little overlap you can see that it is supported, and it has a place to rest and be glued!

This is what it looks like before you paint it. You will want to link the flowers together with some loops and what not. It holds better support when they are together. You can also take some curleys and add them randomly to left over corners, and at the top of the frame. It looks pretty good as far as not being done yet.

One thing I have to say, When I tried painting this the color didn't like to stay on the toilet paper rolls, it more so soaked it up. So tonight I am going to try again and see if it does any better. If not then I will be painting with craft paint to give it its look. You can do any color you want and you can explore the different shapes as well.

 Finished Product!!
